Organic Freeze Dried Food
Do You Want Freeze-Dried Food And You'd Prefer It Organic?
That's what I would like in an ideal world... that I could have a store of freeze-dried foods for camping trips and emergencies, and that much of it would be organically grown. For now, I've only been able to find certain categories--fruits, coffee, baby food, aloe vera, and pet food most noticeably--that do have items that are both ORGANIC and FREEZE-DRIED.
When I went to do the research at Amazon, I typed in: organic freeze dried food. I was pleased when 362 results came up, but when I started checking individual product listings, I discovered that not everything was both freeze-dried and organic. This has to do with the way searches are done there. You just have to check the text on the pages. So, being a librarian, I love to do this sort of thing, and I have found a number of freeze-dried organic food items that are listed below. Do take a look!

This is a good coffee for everyday use. Also, if you need your emergency supplies, you may be glad to have coffee on hand! Several of the reviewers ran taste tests and liked this even better than the home-ground coffee they had been making!
Here I list the regular coffee in two sizes and the decaf in one size:
Just how important is it to get your freeze-dried foods in organic versions?
The answer to this question is really a personal matter. It's a good idea to have some freeze-dried foods around, and if they can be organic that is a plus. But if organic isn't available, don't let it stop you from doing some stocking up.
I like to have things on hand for a variety of reasons... you never know what unexpected house guests will want to eat, for one thing. Or if you live, as I do, in a place were winter sometimes brings icy roads for days on end, it's mighty nice to have plenty of food on hand. Earthquiakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes can be unwelcome surprise events, depending on where you live.
A benefit of freeze-dried food is that you can keep some in the trunk of your car. Many of the freeze-dried fruits, for example, make easy snacks if you are delayed. There aren't too many foods that you can keep in your car over the winter.
